I guess we should know by now that we should know that professional athletes do not live by the standards of normal humans but who can tell it just like it is. The closest thing I've seen mainstream is Bill Simmons with some of his references about things that otherwise go without a strong opposition. He is also an inspiration to why this blog is starting, but that is neither here nor there. In today's world we turn our shoulder to the problems that get the most media attention. When I was little growing up I wanted to be a professional athlete, as I'm sure many other people did too and kids now want to as well. The problem starts that kids should want to be people who make the world a better place and that are inspirational not one's that abuse their power.
Just a few days ago Tiger Woods came out and said:
"I was doing things morally, inside, I knew I shouldn't be doing."
"I made terrible choices and repeated mistakes. I hurt the people whom I loved the most."
So Tiger the question for you is if you know all these things and you seem to be talking like you knew these things at the time why did you do it? Well I am going to pretend I am you. You did it because you were thinking he I'm Tiger fucking Woods I can do whatever I want. Along with that I can fuck whoever I want. People know all athletes have temptation and if you are marrying an athlete you should expect it especially if you are not long-time sweethearts from growing up. Well I guess I can't go and say that either because Kobe Bryant married and he "didn't" bang/rape some chick in Colorado. Wait why are they still married? Oh that's right I remember because she would have nothing without him and he dropped $4,000,000 on a diamond ring for her.
So if you want to get back with your wife after you fuck some random slut just buy her a big juicy diamond ring and all will be forgiven. This is alright thought because athletes and celebrities are above the law and the rest of society. Maybe it is because I want to marry a celebrity personally that I am so biased about celebrity and athlete marriages. It is even better when athletes are introduced to celebrities and they think those marriages will work out.
Think about kids in college trying to find a sexy girl to hook up with. Things that will help in lady that girl: 1) Being from a wealthy background/from a famous person. 2) Being increadibly smooth which is by far the hardest. 3) Being blessed to be born as a handsome human. 4) Being an ATHLETE.
There might be one other major that helps people get laid and that is a Bio/Pre-Med because they most likely will successful. An athlete is the person that is in the moment and they are the big buff looking guys that our media outlets and most sexy women fantasize over. So does it surprise me that hott actresses want to marry these physical specimens that are today's athletes, no it doesn't. I just never see it working out in the end but these marriages will keep happening forever.
Tony Parker and Eva Longoria (used to be Longoria-Parker) seemed like it could last forever when they drop an absurd amount of money on their wedding. Well absurd for us working people in the real world that don't get millions of dollars every year. If a couple like these two who seemed to have everything going right can't be satisfied with each other how are other athletes going to do it. Wife sharing cannot work nor can it be accepted by today's society but these players should have some type of clause with their wives. Eva Longoria will be fine because she can support herself, but some of these athletes wives if they were left by their husband would be left with nothing. So why wouldn't these women just except a lot of these athletes when they are young and married are going to be chasing all the 'tail' they want when visiting another city. But apparently being in your home town can be just as dangerous with your teammates running around. Who's wife could turn down sweet nothings being whispered into their ears in French? Poor Brent Barry didn't deserve this.
Someone five years ago a heart are man truly felt for and now we wish he would have just retired. Yes, that is right you guessed it is that crazy, dick pic'ing, broken ankle playing, overstaying his welcome in the NFL guy Brett Favre. As a Packers fan I was among the biggest Brett Favre lovers, especially strange since I'm from Chicago. If he would have retired a Packer three years ago he would have never tarnished his name and also would have been a true American QB hero. Now he is just another athlete that went rogue and didn't stay loyal to his wife. I won't bash on my man as hard as some of the others but when his dad passed away and he played that Monday night on MNF everyone was rooting for him to win. When his mom and wife got diagnosed with breast cancer everyone felt for him. Now everyone is laughing at him and it is sad to see this poor hero's reputation be torn down these past three years. Anyway I want to spin it I cannot protect what he did he was wrong and should just have admitted it.
Athletes are our role models and bad influences all at the same time. Athletes rock-star mentalities hurt the cause of young kids that want to aspire to be just like them. Cheating doesn't get you ahead in an area of the world and athlete roles models cheating doesn't help our youth. I'm not naive and these patterns will probably continue but if changes could be made it would beneficial to our society.
